As soon as I hung up the call with Maddy, the excitement that had been running inside me slowly faded into something else.

Uncertainty.

How was I going to tell Jason?

I sat down on the edge of my bed, gripping my phone tightly as I stared at the blank wall in front of me. 

It wasn’t like I was doing anything wrong…I deserve a vacation, didn’t I? I had been running around, handling everything, making sure Little Jason was always taken care of, keeping up with the responsibilities of this house.

I let out a sigh, rubbing my temples.

Jason wasn’t the controlling type. He wasn’t the kind of man to tell me what I could or couldn’t do. But still, something about telling him I’d be leaving for a while made me hesitate.
