Layla’s POV

I swallowed hard as I made my way toward the boarding gate. My fingers gripped the strap of my bag so tightly that my knuckles turned white.

This was it.

The moment I had been waiting for.

Or dreading?

I wasn’t sure anymore.

As I stepped closer, the large airplane came into full view through the massive glass windows of the terminal. My breath hitched.

It was huge.

I had seen planes before, of course, but only from a distance. I had never been this close to one, let alone about to step inside.

A nervous flutter ran through my stomach.

What if something went wrong? What if the plane malfunctioned midair? What if we hit turbulence?

I exhaled, shaking my head.

I needed to calm down.

People flew every single day, and nothing happened to them.
