I couldn’t stop watching her. Every little movement, every slight shift in her expression, pulled me deeper into my own torment.
The way she bit her lip while lost in thought, the way her fingers tapped absently against her knee…it was all the same.
Layla.
The woman I had once sworn to protect. The woman I had failed.
My hands curled into fists as I sat there, the weight of my past pressing down on me. How was she alive? How had she survived? And why the hell didn’t she remember anything?
