Maxine's POV

The days passed in a similar pattern. 

Each morning, I would do my chores with a smile, and each afternoon, Elena and I would escape to our happy place. The guards began to see me differently, their hostility slowly melting away. Some even began to chat with me, sharing stories and jokes.

I just felt like Alpha Liam never came back and life reminded me this way. This current living is better than my isolated and embarrassing life back at my pack.

But amid my happiness, I couldn't stop feeling uneasy. My instincts were warning me. It just never lies. But I was carried away. The joy I was experiencing consumed my sense of thought.
