Chapter 122

Maxine’s POV

"Who was that? It looked like you knew her." She said, giving me space to sit next to her.

"We used to work together. She's a nurse." I replied, with a sigh, wiping the sweat from my forehead. "Thanks for holding on to my things, Ella."

"Don't mention." She replied. "You should go home and get some rest."

"You too." I told her. We took our groceries and went our separate ways.

The next morning, sunlight filtered through the windows of my apartment as I got ready for work. I dressed up, had breakfast and went to the pack house. I packed a sandwich.

It casted long shadows on the road, the sun rising behind it. I entered the building with a stack of paperwork under my arm. I had taken them home to work so I could finis up.

I mentally prepared myself for another day of managing schedules and coordinating tasks.
