Maxine's POV

"Yes, Alpha," Dr. Harrington confirmed. "She is ready to leave, but she will need continued support and care."

Liam turned on his heel, already walking towards the door. "Make sure you provide her with everything she needs," he said over his shoulder before leaving without another glance in my direction.

As the door closed behind him, I felt a mixture of relief and sadness. Relief that he was gone, but sadness at the coldness of his behavior. It was clear that he did not care about me, or maybe he was just pretending and I wondered why he even bothered to check on my progress.

Elena squeezed my hand, bringing me back to the present. "Don't let him get to you, Maxine. Alpha can be too cold but he has a conscience. I promise you, he will come around."

I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Okay. I just need to keep moving forward."
