Chapter 16
The distant sound of the clock ticking steadily and precisely lulled Kaito out of an empty void, bringing him back to the real world. He felt the ray of sunlight, cascading into his room, slightly burning his leg.
He slowly peeled his eyes open to his white ceiling and glanced around with a clouded vision that cleared out after a few seconds.
He made to sit up but winced when his stomach clenched in pain.
“Grandma?” He called out but it came out like a whisper.
He wrinkled his nose when the smell of his breath hit his nose. “Ugh.”
He swung his feet to the ground and glided his way to the bathroom. He brushed his teeth and managed to take a refreshing bath, one that healed his wounds faster than anything.
