Chapter 19
I awoke in a forest of red and black. I could hear the sound of foxes yipping playfully in the distance as I lifted my head from the soft, grassy ground. I managed to get to my feet and followed the playful sounds through the strangely colored forest. In the end, I came to a meadow and could see a group of foxes that were making a noise, playing alongside a child in the distance.
“Is… that me?” I asked as I saw a child with rosy skin and bright red hair running through the meadow.
“My queen!” Another child’s voice caught her attention, and I looked over to see a young boy with pale skin and short jet-black hair running toward the little girl. “I finally made my first one!” he exclaimed with glee as he came over to her.
“Have you found out what you are, at last, my king?” the girl asked sweetly as she and the foxes met with the boy. He revealed a small green snake curled up in his hands.
