Chapter 88
While we stood at the bar relaxing, I faded out of the three men’s conversation. They began sharing tales about fights they had won with each other, bragging about how powerful they were in an attempt to bond and intimidate each other. The conversation was of no interest to me, and I turned my attention to the bartender.
“Can I have another virgin drink?” I asked the female bartender.
“Of course,” she smiled at me. She took my empty glass, and I suddenly felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
“It’s so strange to see you so young again, my queen,” a familiar voice whispered in my ear as a slender hand gently touched my lower back.
I stiffened as I turned my head and came face to face with Jett. I could not form words as his teal eyes pierced through my very soul. Jett was not looking at me with eyes of admiration. His gaze was that of a predator sizing up its prey.
