Chapter 59. Mission Accomplished
Keratin sat on the dock, the necklace he gave Germane in a tight fist in his hand. At intervals, he would change from man to wolf, and back again, despair taking its toll on him. How could this be? Just when he had just discovered her, he had lost her.
The loss of her was physical torture on him. His heart felt like it had shattered into a million pieces, and there was a tight band around his chest that refused to ease. He could not move even if he wanted to. All he did was clutch the necklace in his hand and moan Germaine's name over and over again.
He felt the presence of his friends but remained in the same position - head down, knees on the ground, eyes tightly shut. Quiet words sailed all over and around him, words that intermittently permeated his jumbled thoughts.
"Why is he still in this position?"
"It is the bond. I can not imagine what he's going through now. It must be torture for him."
