Chapter 77. Vampires Happened
Germaine woke with a start. For some few seconds she did not know where she was or who she even was. She looked askance, at the basket in front of the bed that glowed with a yellow, iridescent light and remembered fireflies. Everything came tumbling back into her mind like an information overload thereafter.
She sighed and flopped back down onto the bed, her body feeling tired and spent. She closed her eyes, her body needing more rest but the empty gnawing feeling in her stomach made her sit up once more. She knew if she did not eat something soon, she would be weak and that would make her powers practically null and void. She also knew from experience that when she got this way, she would become antagonistic. She didn't want to offend anyone, so she grudgingly got up on shaky legs.
