Chapter 6. The Invitation

After Christine insulted me at her birthday party, I stopped hanging out in groups and going to parties. Or let’s say, Christine’s humiliation had such an impact on me that I began to hide from everyone’s view.

I would wear a hoodie, hide behind the books, and have my headphones on so that no one would ever bother to talk to me. And it worked! No one ever tried to talk to me except Jenna. I don’t know how, but even in a large throng, she always managed to find me. 

I guess that’s the superpower of a true best friend.

Mr. Fitzgerald called the new guy and praised him in front of everyone. He was so happy and proud. I could see through his face.
