Chapter 24

Catherine immediately checked her phone when she received a message, and when the sender was Max, she was thrilled and smiled. It was still eleven o’clock in the evening and there were a lot of taxis outside if ever he wanted her to visit him.

She opened the message, and tears automatically flowed down from her eyes. Max told her that he was leaving the country for emergency purposes as it turned out that his immune system couldn’t take the hot weather in the country. She tried to call him but his number couldn’t be reached anymore. Catherine wanted to believe that he was telling the truth but she suspected that he just said it to stop her from seeing him anymore. She dialed the hotel’s telephone number and when it rang, she waited until someone would pick up her call.

“Golden Peak Hotel, this is Sharon speaking, how may I help you?”

“Hello. Hi, I’m Kate, can you please connect me to Mr. Max Sahkoo’s room? Thank you.”
