Chapter 60
In the morning, she woke up with a phone on her chest and the draft message from last night was still there when she checked her phone. She got up from bed and noticed that she was alone in the room and assumed the others to be taking a bath already including him.
Catherine fetched her towel and proceed downstairs because it was already seven. While descending the stairs, she could feel that something was wrong and she wondered what could it be. She wanted to ask Naneth or Eunice or her cousins but held her tongue when she noticed that they were focused on their baths. “Good morning everyone,” she greeted them and they just nodded.
She was ready to leave when her suspicion came to light. Their landlady wanted to talk to her downstairs, and she had no choice. “Good morning, Madame.” Catherine greeted the grumpy old woman whose thinning eyebrows were constantly raised toward her.
“Sit down, Kate,” Dragon ordered.
“Is this about my rent?” Catherine couldn’t thin
