Chapter 42

"What are you doing?" he asked, his voice was raised.

I started to hear his familiar voice and I didn't even have to turn to see who was talking. "I can't sleep, Jacob," I told him the truth but it seemed he was  

suspicious of the words coming out of my mouth. When I looked at him, there was a hint of concern in his eyes but I was really not sure what was going on inside his head. I wished he wouldn't raise his voice at me whenever he would ask a question. 

"Why? Did you have trouble with your arm?"

“More than that. Aside from the discomfort, I worried about what would happen tomorrow. I mean, look at me, Jacob!

“Can you calm down, Natalia? You'll get better soon," he assured me but I shook my head in disbelief.

"Do you want me to calm down?" Then, I showed him the swollen part. It hurts and I can barely stand it. I'm worried about my ability to shower tomorrow, as well as some other tasks that only my right hand is capable of doing.
