Chapter 44

He called me several times but I dared to ignore him. I went straight to my room and didn't bother to come out even at mealtime. If he's going to blame me, he shouldn't have helped in the first place!

But it was around ten o'clock in the evening when my stomach rumbled with hunger. I was going to bring something to eat but I couldn't think straight because he told me that all women need a man! I slowly opened the door so as not to alarm especially Jacob who was in the other room.

"What!" I cursed at the man who stood outside the door and he just grinned when I came out. "Are you crazy? What do you think you're doing outside my room?" Instead of answering me right away, he just came closer and held my hand tightly.

"Natalia," he whispered, his voice weak and uncertain. "I can't let you ignore me anymore," he said.

"What are you talking about?" I was surprised by the seriousness of his voice.

"You can call me a loser but I really love you," the man declared.
