Chapter 21

Pain

I pulled aside the white curtain covering our room's vast wall. Because it is crystal, the heat coming from the outside enters immediately. I also opened the door to the veranda and went out. The sparkle of the sea is beautiful. The air from there is refreshing, especially for pregnant people like me.

I smiled when someone hugged me from behind. Manuel hugged me tight and kissed my hair.

"What do you want for breakfast?" he asked.

Yesterday, we checked up. We found out which foods are better for pregnant women. It's a strange feeling, being with the person you love and you two being together every day. I don't want to be far from Manuel again. I don't see myself anymore without him.

"I want my favorite. The one with meat." I snorted because even when I was sleeping last night, that was what was really on my mind.

He buried his face in my neck. "What else?"

"Orange juice."

He was quiet, and we stared at the ocean for a few minutes.
