Chapter 46

The man stepped out of the shadows and Chris blanched. May had never seen a man go through several emotions at the same time. From fear to shock to blank. Guess she was about to find out who the hell this was. Then someone she recognized came out from behind the man, Steve.

“Hey shorty.” Steve said in greeting and May wanted to run into his arms but she just knew that that was going to be the wrong move at this point in time. She did not need the trauma of something bad happening because of her. So she just stared at Steve.

“And you are?” May suddenly asked the man that came out first, she did not know where the confidence was coming from but her priority was finding her best friend.

“Why my darling, you should be smarter than that question. The obvious darling.” The man said and gestured to the rose attached to the lapel of his suit, she had been trying to ignore it since he stepped out but now she had to look at it and affirm the answer that she already knew.
