Rose’s POV
The sight of my baby boy lying peacefully in his cribs brought a wave of emotions crashing over me.
My heart ached with the weight of everything that had happened, and I knew I had to talk to them, even if they were too young to understand.
Carrying my little girl in my arms and I approached my boy’s cribs slowly, my steps slow.
They were just one month old, so tiny and innocent, peacefully unaware of the problems that had been surrounding us.
But I couldn’t shake the guilt that had settled in my chest like a heavy stone. I knelt down between their cribs, so I could be close to both of them.
“Hey, my sweet babies,” I whispered, my voice trembling slightly. “I’m so sorry I had to leave you both.” I begged them as if they were listening to me.
My daughter, with her soft, dark curls, stirred a little, her tiny fingers curling around the edge of her blanket.
