Rose’s POV

As we reached the lake, Allison turned around and grinned at us. “Race you to the dock!” they said in unison as they began to run.

Before I could say anything, Ray took off running, with Sarah close behind.

Allison laughed and followed after them, leaving me and Rebecca with Elise.

“Are they always like this?” Elise asked, her eyes wide with surprise.

“Pretty much,” I said, laughing. “They’re a competitive bunch. But don’t worry, they won’t make you race if you don’t want to.” I told her, letting her know that it is not a must to join them in the race.

Elise shook her head, smiling. “No, it’s okay. I think it’s fun.” she finally said, sounding more happy.

Rebecca nudged her playfully. “Better hurry, then, or you’ll miss all the action.” Rebecca said loudly to us.

With that, Elise took off running, and I followed, feeling lighter than I had in a long time.
