Alpha Kanen’s POV

Lying there on the cold, hard ground, my mind was a whirlwind of questions and fears. I couldn’t shake the anxiety that crept into every corner of my thoughts.

What if Rose had been kidnapped by the wizard Roderick spoke of? What if she was in danger? The idea that she might be out there, alone and helpless, made my heart pound in my chest.

The worst thought, though, was the one that hit me like a blow to the gut: What if she was dead already? Immediately I stood up from my lying down position.
