Rose’s POV

I felt torn apart, my heart and mind at war with each other.

“I…I need to think,” I whispered, my voice barely audible. I couldn’t make this decision now.

I needed time—time to process everything, to figure out what I was going to do.

The wizard nodded, though there was no sympathy in his gaze.

“Very well,” he said. “But do not take too long. Time is a luxury you do not have.” he said, indirectly telling me to make the right decision.

I nodded, wiping the tears from my eyes as I turned away. I needed to be alone, to think. But even as I walked away, I knew the decision had already been made.

There was no way I could stay here for three months, not with everything that was happening. I had to find another way—some way to learn about my powers without abandoning my family.
