Rose’s POV

The tension in the cave was unbearable. Alpha Kanen refused to let me go, but I was just as determined to leave.

I couldn’t stand the thought of being the reason everyone else might die. It wasn’t fair.

“Why can’t you understand?” I shouted, my voice cracking with frustration. “Just let me go, Kanen! I’ll be the sacrifice so the rest of you can live. It’s my choice!” we were still on this matter and I was already getting tired of everything.

Kanen’s eyes darkened with anger as he grabbed my arm, holding me back from stepping toward the cave entrance.

His grip was tight, his fingers digging into my skin, but I wasn’t scared of him—I was scared of what might happen if I stayed.

“You’re not going anywhere,” Kanen growled, his voice rough with emotion. “You’re not throwing your life away, Rose. Not for anyone.” he kept talking.
