Chapter 479
Celine’s POV
It was morning already. The sky above had begun to light up with the early rays of the sun, shining a soft glow through the rooftop.
I stretched a little, blinking away the last traces of sleep, and turned my head to check on Rose.
She was still fast asleep. Her breathing was deep and even, and her face looked peaceful.
I didn’t want to disturb her. We had been through so much, and if anyone needed some rest, it was her.
I quietly sat up, careful not to make too much noise.
The last thing I wanted was to wake her before she was ready.
I knew how rare it was for her to have a moment like this, where she could escape from the constant pressure of survival, at least in her sleep.
But there was work to be done. My thoughts drifted to the small trap I had planned to set today.
I was hoping it would catch something—anything.
We hadn’t seen animals in our land for a long time, not since the drought.
