I woke up as the first light of dawn streamed through Candice's window, a routine I had grown accustomed to. Rising early and leaving my home by six o'clock was a regular part of my life, often spent engaging in tasks I hadn't finished the night before.
In an instant, I lost my bearings, my mind racing behind my closed eyelids as I tried to understand why there was another person beside me. However, as soon as I opened my eyes, the internal confusion vanished, and the memories of the previous night rushed back.
Waking up with Candice in my arms felt like a dream come true. It was something I had longed for, and the reality of it brought an unexpected wave of relief. I turned my focus to the angelic figure nestled against me.
Candice was still peacefully asleep, as she seemed to be every morning at that hour. Her lack of wakefulness and playful banter didn't bother me at all; I was more than happy to admire her serene features.
