The following morning, I received my test results, and the increasing levels of human chorionic gonadotropin indicated that my baby was doing well. I was cleared to leave the hospital, yet I remained uncertain about my first destination. Should I go to Liza’s house first or to Enzo’s company?
I hadn’t seen Mandy, and I felt relieved to finally be free from her. I was also grateful that she had paid my bill, so I no longer had to worry about it.
I had just stepped out of the hospital when I was startled by a cold hand grasping my elbow.
“Let’s go,” I heard someone talk, and I quickly turned to find Jerry standing behind me. His dark shades obscured his eyes, making it impossible to tell where he was looking.
