Chapter 41. Involves You

Lex’s POV

Lotus stood, staring at the spot where Asena had just vanished. I could sense his urge to ignore her plea and follow her.

I felt the same way.

But I knew he wouldn’t; he would stick to his promise to her.

“She’ll be okay, buddy,” I said, attempting to soothe his aching heart. “She’s in good hands. She’ll be back.”

Even my words did little to ease the pain in my heart.

The thought of her leaving me again drove me insane.

I had so many questions that needed answers. There were so many things I wanted to ask.

Yet, the main questions gnawed at me.

Why did Asena refuse to reveal my mate’s name? Why did she want to keep her identity hidden? Was her past that terrible?

“I guess so,” Lotus replied, his heart heavy. “We just found her, and now she’s gone again. Will we ever be able to settle down and be together?”
