Lilly’s POV
I couldn’t deny that I needed Adira’s help. She seemed so confident that she could assist me. I took a deep breath, weighing my options. Trusting her might be my only chance to overcome the challenges ahead, but could I really rely on someone I barely knew?
After a very uncomfortable dinner with her parents—especially with Hendrix present—we headed to her father’s study.
The room was dimly lit, filled with the scent of aged leather and old books. It looked exactly as I had imagined. Rows upon rows of bookshelves lined the walls, and a faint trail of dragon blood incense lingered in the air. The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows across the spines of the books, and I wondered if the knowledge contained within those pages could hold the key to the answers we desperately needed.
“Have a seat,” Adira said, gesturing to a deeper area of the study.
