Chapter 44. Trap
Lilly’s POV
Anxiety coursed through my veins as we followed Adira. I wasn’t sure where we were going or if we were still within the Royal Pack territory. All I knew was that we were venturing deeper into the dark forest.
The sudden sound of rushing water caught my attention, and I turned my gaze toward the source of the noise.
It sounded like a waterfall, and I could already imagine the magnificent downpour.
Adira seemed focused elsewhere, moving gracefully down the narrow, overgrown path. She brushed her fingertips through the grass, humming an unfamiliar tune that almost resembled a lullaby.
I found it odd that she appeared so comfortable around a werewolf.
I knew she was a witch; I had sensed her magic—raw and powerful—before I even laid eyes on her.
But I was uncertain about her intentions toward me and why she remained so calm in the presence of wolves.
Still, I could sense that Asena trusted her with my life.
