Chapter 66. The Taste of Rain
Lilly’s POV
The weather turned for the worse. Thunder rolled outside, lightning lit up the skies, and the wind forced the forest down to its roots.
“The Goddess is angry tonight,” Asena mused.
I was standing at the balcony door, looking out. I didn’t like this kind of weather—never had—but something about tonight’s storm was different. It was beautiful in its own way. The air was charged with electricity, ready to make nothing of something or someone.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I watched the trees sway violently. The storm mirrored my turmoil, and for a moment, I wondered if the world outside could sense my inner chaos.
“At whom would the Goddess be angry?” I muttered as I watched the downpour.
Huge drops of rain splattered on the balcony—it was magical. I could see them as individual drops fell from the sky, each looking different from the other.
I could hear each drop hit the floor, like a sweet melody only I could hear.
