Two warriors nearby started to intervene, but I motioned them to stand down.

Oliver returned with Sade’s receipt and the boots, handing them over with professional calm.

“See? This is what real money looks like,” Sade gloated, clutching her prize.

“Something you’ll never have,” the redhead sneered.

I just kept smiling, feeling strangely victorious.

Suddenly, Sade’s phone rang, and for the briefest moment, fear flickered in her eyes at the caller ID.

“I guess you should get that,” Oliver said gently.

“Is it your mom?” the brunette asked.

Sade nodded, her confidence wavering.

“You’d better answer,” I said softly. “It might be important.”
