Chapter 70. Petty Games
Lilly’s POV
“This way, please,” Anne said, gesturing for me to follow. Her voice was polite, but there was an icy undertone I couldn’t ignore.
Zack nudged me forward, giving me an encouraging smile, but I still felt uneasy as I trailed behind Anne. She led me down a narrow hallway, past a couple of elegant dressing rooms. At the very end, she opened a door.
“You can wait here,” she said curtly, not bothering to mask her disinterest.
I stepped inside and looked around. The room was cramped, cluttered with boxes, and contained only a single chair shoved into the corner. This wasn’t a dressing room—more like a storage closet. My stomach twisted with discomfort.
I glanced back at the door, half-expecting her to return and offer some kind of explanation, but the silence stretched on. Leaning against the wall, I tried to make sense of the situation, wondering if I had made a mistake by coming here at all.
