Lilly’s POV

“Ah, right,” Zack replied, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. “Let’s do that first, before anything else. I should have done that before I brought you here, but it doesn’t matter. We can do so now.”

The warrior smiled and fell back in line as Zack changed direction, leading us toward the escalator.

“We’re going up again?” I asked, suppressing a small shudder of apprehension at the thought of another ride.

He nodded and squeezed my hand. This time, the ride felt less intimidating. Halfway up, I found the courage to let go of Zack’s hand and stood tall, feeling a swell of quiet pride.

“You’re doing great,” he said, beaming down at me as we reached the top. He linked his arm with mine, guiding us toward a shoe store tucked into the corner of the floor.

“I thought this was the jewelry—”

“Yes,” he said. “But this store is like a precious jewel…” he grinned, giving me a wink.
