He hung up on me! He’s probably in the council meeting, I thought. I went back to cleaning the tables at the bar. I hadn’t been here in ages, and it oddly felt good to be busy.

“Hey! Do you even still work here?” Lettie said with glee from the bar.

“Barely. I’m about to put out vacancies,” Marley replied.

I shook my head at her. “I’ve been busy lately.”
