Chapter 57. Caught by Lucas
We were dressed and ready to go soon. I wore the party dress underneath and threw a jacket on top to avoid unwanted confrontation from my mother or anyone else who might try to stop me from leaving.
It worked perfectly, and I was able to walk out of the house without any problems. My mother was nowhere to be seen, and it made me wonder if Brian was still mad at her for hiding her pregnancy from him.
I knew my discussion with her wasn’t over, and I doubted we would have another one before I married Lucas. It confused and scared me that she suddenly wanted to leave. That meant something had gone wrong for her and her plans hadn’t worked out, which wasn’t like her at all.
But I had accepted my fate. There was no going back, and I would never return to my old life again. I had accepted that Lucas would be my husband tomorrow, and the child would be his if everything
