I was in a rage. He saw me as nothing but a gold digger and treated me the same way he claimed my mother was. After all, he said he had looked into her past before she married his father, which meant he must have known a great deal about my life, too.
But what mattered most was what he thought about me, what he saw in me, and what he believed he knew. I had no worth to him—just a liar trying to manipulate every situation. I had never felt so humiliated and stupid in his presence.
