Calista’s POV
His frown deepened, and he held up a hand to stop me when I tried to touch him, his eyes cold, and again, they became stranger and distant. “Enough, Calista. I don’t want to hear any more excuses. You’ve made your choice clear.”
With that, he turned on his heel and walked out of the room, leaving me standing there, my heart shattered into a thousand pieces. The sound of the door slamming echoed through the house.
I am left alone in the kitchen, the silence thick and oppressive, pressing down on me like an invisible weight. Guilt gnaws at me, a relentless ache in the pit of my stomach. The kitchen is spotless now, every surface wiped clean, every dish neatly put away, yet the emptiness within me remains, gnawing and insistent. I know I can’t disturb Draven anymore; his icy demeanor and harsh words from earlier still echo in my mind, a reminder of the boundary I must not cross.
