Calista’s POV
Zane let out a breath, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “You sent us a text—something about needing space, about not wanting to see us anymore.” His voice cracked, just a little, and it tore at my heart.
My mind raced, trying to piece together what he was saying. A text? I did not remember sending anything like that. But then, it hit me—a cold wave of realization.
“No,” I whispered, horror dawning on me. “No, that can’t be right. I never meant to send that. It was… it was just a draft. Something I wrote when I was overwhelmed, but I never meant to send it.”
Cedric’s eyes narrowed, his voice tight. “But you did. And we all got it. We thought you were serious, that you were… ending things.”
