Chapter 96. What Message?
Calista’s POV
The beep of the heart monitor was the first thing I registered as I drifted back to consciousness, I moved my body and they’re not that bad and I don’t even know how I ended up here. I blinked, trying to clear the haze from my vision. Everything was white—sterile and cold. The walls, the sheets, the light above me—it all felt too bright, too sharp. My head pounded with a dull ache, the kind that made you want to close your eyes and disappear back into sleep.
This place is the last place I would go if there’s an apocalypse. I want to sleep in my bed and roll there, but at the same time, it makes me feel confused and good.
But something kept me tethered to consciousness. I forced myself to focus, to make sense of the blurs and shapes around me. Slowly, they sharpened into the familiar forms of Zane, Cedric, and Draven.
They were all here. I already know that, I just thought I was still dreaming, and sickening.
