Chapter 11
Ruby’s POV
I charged at him, fueled by a whirlwind of emotions, and his eyes flew open in surprise. We found ourselves on the ground, and I was straddling him, my fists raining down onto his face with each powerful connection. Hayes showed no signs of defense; instead, he welcomed every punch, his expression a strange mixture of relief and amusement.
“Henry is so much better than you’ll ever be, you idiot!” I screamed, my voice raw with pent-up frustration. Hayes’s chest vibrated beneath me, not from pain but from what appeared to be a twisted enjoyment. What the hell was he? A masochist?
Just as I swung my fist again, a strong pair of arms lifted me off the stupid, arrogant ass. Tate had intervened. I was furious at Hayes—not just for his words about Henry but for everything he did to me.
My anger ran deeper than I could put into words. Tate carried me to my room, and by the time we arrived, hot, angry tears spilled down my cheeks, blurring my vision.
