Ruby’s POV

I lay in bed on my back, watching the patterns on the high ceiling. I had been awake for a while, unmoving, while my mates slept soundly on either side of me. They had come to bed late after a meeting with Dante and the others. I didn’t want to dwell on what Dante had said about the rogue king looking for someone, but I couldn’t help it, especially considering the kind of powers he was after. As a female, I was aware of the numerous myths surrounding female chosen warrior wolves. Should I be scared that the rogue king was after me? Could he reach me here in the pack?

During the recent rogue attack, we had trounced them. No, I was safe as long as I was within the pack, as long as I was with my mates and my brother. I had asked my mates what was discussed in the meeting but they said it wasn’t important and that they would handle it.
