Jay’s POV

“You don’t want to talk to me, Jason,” she sneered, then sweetly looked at the man I was about to kill if he didn’t back off and accept his invitation. “I accept your invitation.”

Before I could stop them, they were on the dance floor, dancing and smiling at each other. I was shaking with anger as the man stepped in line with me.

“You messed up, didn’t you?” he asked, seemingly amused. For the first time, I looked at him. He had a smirk playing on his lips, and amusement danced in his eyes.

“I did,” I found myself admitting.

“She’s lovely, inside and out,” he spoke gently and fondly.

“Do you know her personally?” I inquired.

“Yes, I had a crush on her in college, but I never shared my feelings. I pursued her for years, and even now, she rejects me,” he laughed to himself. It pleased me to know that she had rejected him.
