Chapter 53. Not True Love
This was definitely my sign to leave. I took the jewelry and holding my stomach in my hands I left Bria’s room and walked out of the house.
Freedom for me too at last.
Lovette’s POV.
We had gotten to the end of the river. I helped Manuel get out from the boat and got our bags out as well. I waited for him to catch his breath and then I helped him stagger into the woods. The sun was coming out now and we were able to see where we were going. We couldn’t stop at all, even if it was just to catch our breaths because Felix’s men were probably behind us chasing us down.
We had come this far already and we couldn’t back down now.
Manuel was burning up. All through the trip down to the river bank I had fed him and given him water and wrapped him up and tended to his wounds as much as I could but it wasn’t enough.
