“Where do you think you're going?”

Helena ignored Dimitri's voice and stood up, freeing herself from his arms. As she walked toward the door, her vision blurred, and if it hadn't been for Dimitri's quickness in catching her from behind, she would have fallen again.

“You must want John to kill me! If you trip and hurt yourself, who do you think he will blame?”

Helena turned to him, feeling despair settle in her heart. Something terrible was about to happen, and she needed to warn John and Henry! She imagined the pain Henry would feel losing his father, and she could prevent that if she warned them in time—there was no time to panic!

She clung to Dimitri and exclaimed, “Take me to the table! We need to send a letter to John, you fool!”
