“Wow, look at this place. How did you even find somewhere like this?” she asked, her gaze wandering over the scenery in amazement.
I rubbed the back of my neck, feeling a little exposed. Here goes me, about to explain something I’ve never really told anyone.
“It didn’t always look like this,” I said, gesturing around us. “But the waterfall’s always been here.”
She watched me closely, her attention soft but focused, and it made me continue. “I planted all the flowers myself,” I added quietly.
Each one represented a time I’d been angry or upset, instead of taking it out on someone, I came here. It’s why this place means so much to me. But still, the thought makes me laugh at myself. An Alpha with a hobby like planting flowers, it sounds ridiculous even to me.
“Well, it’s beautiful,” she said, meeting my eyes. “You must have put in a lot of work.”
