If I said the events at the party didn’t shake me, I’d be lying. As painful as it all was, there was something almost laughable about it.

My father’s mistakes from his youth had finally caught up with him—there was no escaping it. Learning I had a sister didn’t feel like it would change my life drastically; it was simply an addition to the family. Truth be told, I wanted to see her. I kept wondering who she resembled.
