Emily's POV

"Are you okay?" I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder. "What did that man say to you?" I stared curiously at him, scared that Berton must have said something to my child.

Why was Berton with my child in the first place? Could it be that he knew already that the child was his? I swallowed deeply, terrified by this revelation. I couldn't watch my child get taken away from me.

"He didn't say anything to me. He was actually nice," he replied sheepishly. "Mum, do you know him from anywhere? He seemed to be staring at you," he asked, his brows drawn together and his eyes staring widely at me. How do I respond to his questions?
