Erian raised his eyebrows when Charlotte suddenly blurted out that statement and then started to move farther and farther away. Immediately after, her scent made it impossible for him not to stalk her. She was a female on the run, and he was the wolf; the instinct to send him after his prey proved to embrace. Erian allowed him to think he was fleeing to freedom as he began to walk toward the living room. Her anxiety level had dropped tremendously the moment he was out of sight, somehow wanting to ignore his presence, but this was short-lived when he grabbed her arm, bringing her back closer.
Charlotte let out an exclamation of surprise and opened her mouth to say something when Erian faced her, but she never got the chance to say the words of confusion bubbling at the edge of her mind.
