“Create an alliance? With a woman?” one of the council members rolled his eyes at my words. “He says you have intentions, but how can we be sure of that?”

“I give you my word, as alpha.” And an alpha’s word was sacred, it could not be given lightly. It was a symbol of integrity and loyalty, if it failed... he could lose everything he had, power, will, credibility, and even his pack.
