Chapter 63. Just in Time

“You’re just in time,” he told her quietly. “Another minute, and I probably would have lost consciousness.” My hand went to my bruised throat. “And Marcus isn’t the type to stop just because a girl is unconscious.”

That only made Adam angrier, and he looked back down at the limp, lifeless body on the ground. I could tell it was killing him not to have given him a slower death, but that wasn’t the way wolves did it. Finally, he turned to me, “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“What, you were expecting tears?” I looked at him.

He just smiled, but immediately, his expression changed, “What will happen now?”

Now? Right! Without Marcus in the middle somehow everything was back to the way it was before, which meant our truce was over, however, Adam was my mate, and I had introduced him to my pack as my alpha... Something he had surely wanted all along.
